Scope

Anyone planning, commissioning or supervising work where suspected asbestos-containing material (ACM) may be present.

Core procedure

Four essential steps

   Stop intrusive work and prevent disturbance of the suspected material.

2. 02

   Record the location, condition, accessibility and planned work without relying on visual identification alone.

3. 03

   Arrange assessment by a competent person and sampling where required.

4. 04

   Treat the material as asbestos until reliable evidence confirms otherwise and update the asbestos register.
